About

Hey, I’m Arni Zachariassen and this is my blog.

I’m a theology student, doing my Master’s in Religions and Theology at the University of Manchester, so the general orientation of “I Think I Believe” is Christian and theological. Theologically I’m in what can be broadly called public theology. Under this header come many areas of interests. An enduring one is the relationship between theology and science, which I look at both systematically and philosophically, as well as practically and ethically. I’m also interested what theology’s role in public discourse and life might be, especially in relation to politics and society. I have a keen interest in pop culture, especially of the Christian kind – with which I have a very confusing love/hate relationship. I’m a musician, so I write especially about the music in this regard, but movies get a mention too.

Some basic info: I’m married to Malan and we have a daughter called Lý. I’m originally from the Faroe Islands, but live in Manchester, England, as I mentioned. I’m a minister’s son and pastor’s brother. I’ve played in bands. I have a beard. With a biologist friend of mine I run a little organisation called Dialogos that works to make the conversation between Christian faith and science better in the Faroe Islands.

Please feel free to connect. Love making new friends.
